Yerucham Heritage Park
For over a century, money raised in Blue Boxes has assisted Zionist pioneers in their efforts to build the infrastructure of a modern, thriving state.
Today, the Blue Box remains a powerful symbol of Jewish unity and a reminder of the part every Jew can play in strengthening Eretz Israel.
YERUCHAM HERITAGE PARK
The JNF Australia Yerucham Heritage Park is perched on a 2-acre plot with a breathtaking, panoramic view. It will be a jewel at the entrance to Yerucham.
Surrounding the beautiful Atid Bamidbar Center and the soon-to-be-constructed Yerucham Heritage House museum, the barren plot of desert will become a green campus. The Yerucham Heritage Park will have tree-lined, lighted paths; shaded sitting corners with benches and tables; an amphitheater with seating for 150 people facing the beautiful view, ideal for sunset concerts; outdoor sculptures and installations; 3 open-sided pergolas for group activities; a traditional Moroccan “frenna” oven and campfire site, with tree-shaded spaces for group activities; and a grove of lush trees.
The JNF Australia Grove in the Neveh Ha’emek Neighbourhood, is the site of the original “Ma’abara” (Transit Camp for immigrants) from January 1951. It will become a premier national center for celebrating and documenting the little-known story of the heroic pioneers who settled in the isolated Ma’abara of Yerucham and endured the harsh conditions of the Negev desert.
JNF Australia has a long-standing connection to the Negev – beginning with the liberation of Beersheva in WWI by the Australian Mounted Division’s Light Horse Brigades.
This is a pioneering story that never ends, and you can be part of it!
Yerucham Heritage Park before and after
The project incorporates a Heritage Museum, new groves of trees, shaded seating areas, an amphitheatre and a state-of-the-art playground.
This new green space will provide a recreational and outdoor learning facility for residents and encourage visitors to the area. This will support the local economy and promote greater awareness of the town’s contribution to Israel’s development.
