Kibbutz Kfar Aza residents move to Kibbutz Ruhama and await mezuzot made by the JNF NSW community

Since October 7, 2023, the residents of Kfar Aza have been living in temporary accommodation, displaced by the ongoing conflict. But now, they have found a new home in Kibbutz Ruhama, where they are welcomed by a community that shares their values and spirit.

Although Kfar Aza and Ruhama are geographically distant, the deep connection between the two kibbutzim, particularly among the children who attend the same school, has made the transition smoother and more meaningful for the residents.

To help make the residents feel secure and embraced in their new homes, JNF NSW organised a special event in Sydney for our supporters to create personalised mezuzot for each of the 180 homes and 400 residents.

Supporters of JNF NSW saw the impact of this thoughtful gesture as a powerful symbol of the warmth and support coming from you, our deeply committed Australian Jewish community, offering comfort as they rebuild their lives.

As we celebrate Chanukah, our hearts are with the residents of Kfar Aza, many of whom are still waiting for the safe return of their loved ones. Among them are seven hostages who remain in captivity, and we pray that this season’s ultimate miracle will bring their safe return to their families.

In the spirit of the festival, may we continue to stand together, sharing strength and support, as we navigate these challenging times with resilience and hope.

The mezuzot and hamsas arrived in Israel in November 2024, and the recipients are so excited to share their beautiful gifts which will decorate their homes.
