Shikma, a non-formal educational centre in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, has been a vital safe space for 250 youth from the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. Its mission is to foster personal growth, leadership, and social values, while helping students contribute to building a strong community.

The trauma of the October 7 events deeply impacted Shikma’s students, who were displaced and forced to study in unfamiliar settings. This led to the temporary closure of Shikma. As the community begins to return, the need for a stable and familiar educational space is more urgent than ever.

JNF Australia is committed to supporting the reopening of Shikma, ensuring it can once again provide a nurturing environment where youth can regain stability and rebuild connections.  JNF Australia’s support will include renovating and upgrading the infrastructure to restore the facility and ensure it remains a vital resource for the community.
