Sderot Meitar Hub for youth at risk

Thanks to the generous donations from JNF Australia, the expansion and renovation of Sderot’s SdeRock Program is now a reality, providing crucial support for the city’s youth in the wake of the October 7 attacks. The trauma and displacement experienced by Sderot’s 30,000 residents have left many young people at risk of turning to substance abuse, crime, and mental health issues. With many parents unable to fully support their children due to trauma and financial struggles, the need for a safe and supportive space has never been more urgent.

The SdeRock Program, established in 1998, has already seen success in rehabilitating at-risk youth, offering therapeutic support and employment opportunities. With JNF Australia’s support, the program will expand to include a variety of activities aimed at personal development and skill-building. The revamped center will offer music lessons, photography, videography, writing, dance, and other arts, as well as contemporary skills like digital marketing, culinary arts, and sports nutrition.

This revitalised space will provide a vital outlet for young people, equipping them with the tools to redirect at-risk behaviors and build a brighter future.
