The Our Brothers organization is a unique community that arose from profound pain and a fundamental need for recognition and support. In the Israeli bereaved community, siblings bear immense loss, yet often don’t receive sufficient official support from state institutions.

Our Brothers, founded in 2017 by a group of bereaved siblings, was established precisely to fill this void. In the past year and a half, approximately 5,000 new siblings have joined the existing 40,000 veteran siblings, highlighting the critical importance of this community of peers. We work to strengthen the mental, emotional, and social resilience of our members, providing a warm home and tools for coping with loss, alongside genuine connection within the community. Ahead are the inspiring stories of some members of our delegation.

Following the October 7, 2023, attacks and the subsequent war, Keshet Eilon—like many communities in northern Israel—was forced to evacuate its campus in Kibbutz Eilon. The music center’s facilities, including its residential accommodations, rehearsal spaces, and concert hall, were repurposed for security needs, and activities had to be relocated.

Yet, despite these challenges, Keshet Eilon never stopped. The center quickly adapted, holding its winter, spring, and summer programs in alternative locations in Israel and even abroad. These efforts ensured that students could continue their studies and that Keshet Eilon’s mission of fostering musical excellence remained steadfast—but above all, it kept our music alive.

Looking Ahead: Rebuilding and Renewal

As northern communities begin to recover, Keshet Eilon is preparing for a return to its campus—but not without significant renovations. The enforced evacuation has highlighted the urgent need for infrastructure improvements to enhance facilities and ensure that the campus can provide an even better environment for students, faculty, and visitors.

With a renewed commitment to education, artistic excellence, and international collaboration, Keshet Eilon does not forgo its dream of establishing an international year-round academy for young string musicians and continues to provide them with a home for learning, growth, and inspiration—no matter the challenges ahead.
