While working in journalism at a media agency in Sydney, Gali and her co founder recognised the extreme isolation and profound need of people who experience homelessness. This prompted them to come up with the idea of providing beautifully packaged boxes that include heartfelt messages to those experiencing homelessness. These packages were designed not only to provide material aid and assistance to those who need it but also to reduce the isolation and increase connection. With this idea The Good Box was born. Since then, The Good Box has grown significantly and now serves and collaborates with local communities across both Queensland and Victoria. As a member of the Jewish community, Gali was inspired by the ideas of Tikkun Olam which forms the basis for the organisation as a whole. Whilst The Good Box is not specifically a Jewish organisation, through The Good Box, Gali has made significant efforts to partner with the Jewish community providing assistance and encourage a stronger connection to the values of Tikkun Olam and Chessed. Gali has worked closely with numerous Jewish organisations across the sector including schools, shules, educational institutions and more. Gali has worked closely with NJCWA Caring Mums program to assist new mums adjusting to life with a new baby to provide them with necessary items to assist them in what for many new mums can be a very lonely and stressful time. More recently, this has included women severely impacted by October 7th and the ongoing war. Gali has partnered with many Jewish schools and UJEB in Bar/Bat mitzvah program and generally to teach them about Tikkun Olam, homelessness and to pack boxes together. By working with students, Gali is inspiring future generations to learn about values that are so important to our community and put them into action.
