Ryan has made outstanding contributions to the community without expecting anything in return. Ryan grew up attending Moriah and Coogee Synagogue, but ever since marrying Gila and joining the Kadimah community Ryan has been a mainstay in all areas. He attends daily services and shiurim, being one of the few in his age group to fly that torch, is involved in leading the Friday night youth minyan, will share ideas from the pulpit in the Rabbi’s absence, lead the services in the absence of the Chazzan and share ideas at Seuda Shlishit. Notably, Ryan has been a central member of the ‘Kadima Pods’ organisation (a branch of Kadima shule specifically run by young adults, to help grow the next generation of the community aiming at adults 18-36). Not only has he been a founding member of Kadimah pods, but has been a pioneering force in leading the committee (monthly meetings & frequent zooms to organise & revise events), hands-on organising the events (including shiurim, events for chaggim, challah bakes and joint events with other Jewish organisations such as WIZO and Australian Jewish Fertility Network), helped with graphics and website, fundraising and strategy and an advocate in bringing so many young Jewish adults together in enriching their sense of community and Jewish social connections. Over and above his amazing commitment, Ryan is known for his gentle approach and easy-going nature. He is incredibly kind, empathetic, and warm – strengthening his ability to connect to others. He is only wanting to build the Jewish community and has never done it to receive anything in return. As a true giver, I think he is an exceptional candidate for the Young Adults Volunteers from 18-36 years old.
