Isaac came into the role of AUJS USYD president at a time where the voice for Jewish students on campus was lacking and students were scared to be on campus. As president he has been able to run both social and political events through AUJS USYD that have had sold out turnouts. To be a Jewish student on campus has been tough for a multitude of reasons, especially on USYD campus and the extreme political tension as a result from October 7th. Isaac has been a leader through this and been an activist for the Jewish voice on campus. Having a leader that is passionate for his community has been ever so important and Zac has gone far and beyond for the Jewish community.
Isaac has made it his mission and as an ongoing process to reach out to as many Jewish students on USYD campus, since October 7 the increase in antisemitism has increased exponentially, in response he has organised the first AUJS rally since October 7 2023 in NSW in response to the Antisemitism experienced on campus. As an additional initiative, he has pushed for and received a Jewish space for students on USYD campus. Overseeing this has included managing student card access, decorating and furnishing the room, ensuring the room keeps to a Kashrut standard and liaising with security.
He has had meetings with the Chancellor and the chief of staff in the Vice-Chancellors officer at USYD to communicate the needs and struggles experienced by Jewish students.
Looking at events, he has reinvigorated USYD events by launching a very successful trivia night after a year or so with little to no events held, He hopes to continue this and increase events for the rest of his USYD presidential term and beyond.
As a leader, he has been an integral part of AUJS and has shown immense skill in leadership and dedication to the assurance of Jewish safety, survival and ability to thrive as Jewish Students.
