Make a Wish Foundation Israel

Make-A-Wish® Israel is the Israeli affiliate of Make-A-Wish® International, whose sole mission is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The Foundation is on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey.

JNF has partnered with Make-A-Wish® Israel, raising funds for the building of a green therapeutic garden and playground at a major Israeli hospital. Having access to a purpose built, green recreational area will help relieve the stress of hospital visits and provide a wonderful distraction from medical treatment and trauma. It will become a place for children to escape, heal and play.

Funds will also be dedicated to granting wishes for critically ill children living in challenging environments in the South of Israel.

A Scientific Research Study “The Make-A-Wish Impact Study”, conducted by Prof. Anat Shoshani at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya Israel, showed that the sense of actualising a wish created a sense of hope for these children, which is extremely important for the recovery and healing process during a life-threatening condition. As opposed to a goal, which is often obtainable, a wish is something out of reach for a child and feels impossible. By achieving the impossible and having their wishes granted, these children then come away from the wish feeling that anything is possible, including beating their disease.
